words by: Margaret Mechtenberg (Tune: “Battle Hymn of the Republic”)

We are the Mighty Acorns and we’re going to pick some seeds.
We’ll search the woods and prairies for our native plants, not weeds.
The seeds are ripe and ready, and they come off in our hands.
Our paper bags will soon be full.

Chorus:
We are the mighty Mighty Acorns,
Strong and eager Mighty Acorns.
We are the mighty Mighty Acorns.
Mighty oaks from acorns grow.

We are the Mighty Acorns and we’re marching through the woods.
We have our saws and loppers and we’re wearing leather gloves.
We’ll cut down all the buckthorn and we’ll stack it up in piles,
And the oaks will grow again.

Repeat chorus

We are the Mighty Acorns and we’re glad that Spring is here.
We’ll plant the seeds we gathered in the ground we helped to clear.
And all the garlic mustard will be pulled and thrown away.
Restoration’s lots of fun!
